At Ignition Autos, we pride ourselves on being one of Essex’s leading specialists in diagnosing and repairing complex DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and AdBlue (SCR) system issues for cars, vans, and commercial vehicles
.
With modern diesel engines becoming more reliant on sophisticated emissions control systems, it’s vital to have a garage with the right expertise, equipment, and training to handle these challenges properly—and that’s exactly what we offer.
There are a number of reasons why your DPF or AdBlue system may have malfunctioned - usually, you will have a warning message up on the dashboard such as "DPF Full, engine power restricted" or "AdBlue System Malfunction XXX miles until no engine restart."
We can offer you a removal of these DPF or AdBlue issues by conducting an accurate diagnosis with either a part replacement or software update a probable solution. Once rectified we will delete the DPF or AdBlue related fault codes in the vehicle before carrying out a road-test to ensure the vehicle is running smoothly.
A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) captures and stores soot from the exhaust system to reduce emissions. Over time, the DPF becomes full and needs to be regenerated, either actively or passively, to burn off the soot. If the regeneration process fails or is interrupted regularly, it can lead to clogging and reduced engine performance.
Clogged Filter: Often caused by frequent short journeys where regeneration can't complete.
Warning Lights: DPF warning lights on the dashboard signal a build-up of soot or a failure to regenerate.
Reduced Power Mode (Limp Mode): The engine may limit power to protect itself.
Increased Fuel Consumption: Incomplete regeneration cycles can result in higher fuel usage.
Strong Smell or Smoke: Excess soot and unburnt fuel may cause noticeable emissions.
AdBlue is a urea-based fluid injected into the exhaust system to neutralize harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx). It's a key component of SCR systems used in Euro 6 diesel engines and is essential for keeping your vehicle compliant with emissions laws.
Contamination: Using low-quality or incorrect fluid can damage sensors and pumps.
Frozen AdBlue: In colder temperatures, the fluid can freeze, potentially damaging components.
System Faults: Faulty NOx sensors, injectors, or control units can cause warning lights or prevent the engine from starting.
“No Restart” Warning: If the system runs dry or develops a fault, many vehicles will display a countdown to engine disablement until resolved.
Ignition Autos specialises in AdBlue & DPF repairs and fault code removal as well as wet belt replacements for Ford Transit, Focus and Fiesta models.
We also provide pre-sale inspection and repairs for local traders and car dealers who require stock refurbishment prior to sale. Contact us below for more details.
